I am Professor of Philosophy at Whitworth University. I received my Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Notre Dame in 2009. I specialize in the theory of knowledge, but my interests also include ethics, empirical psychology, and the philosophy of religion. My scholarly work addresses such topics as intellectual virtue, the philosophy of education, civil discourse, and the epistemology of disagreement.
Lately I've been thinking a lot about the role of intellectual virtues (e.g., curiosity, humility, and intellectual perseverance) in education and everyday life. My book, The Excellent Mind: Intellectual Virtues for Everyday Life was released by Oxford University Press in 2021.
